Here is the resounding response from every patient who has seen The Vanishing Oath:  I never knew.  

     Uh-oh.

     Patients really don’t know the truth. Why? Because nobody has told them.  They have been left in the dark to guess or speculate the reasons why doctors are leaving medicine. Do we simply sit by silently waiting for the foundation of medicine to crumble?

     Isn’t it the responsibility of medical leaders to enlighten the masses that the elitist golfers from the Marcus Welby, MD era died long, long ago?

     I think I represent most patients in my desire to be informed. I don't want to be staring down at the rubble of medicine come the day it is too late saying "I never knew".

     Silence kills.
